We Are Never Finished With Grief
“We are never finished with grief.
It is part of the fabric of living.
It is always waiting to happen.
Love makes memories and life precious;
The grief that comes to us
Is proportionate to that love
And is inescapable.”
– V S Naipaul
Today I am thinking of the precious couple Emma and Dan whose darling daughter Jasmine Charlotte was still born at 37 ½ weeks in January 2019.
So heart breaking. This beautiful quote speaks to me of that inescapable grief that surrounds such a loss. A grief woven into the fabric of their living and loving. May this dear couple know afresh the encompassing love of the family, friends and community who journey with them and may they be strengthened by the light and hope of their faith kindled within.
It was such a sacred privilege to work with Emma and Dan to create a special service to farewell and remember their darling daughter whom they had been longing for.
Dear Jennie
Dan and I wanted to pass on our deepest thanks for helping us with such an important job at the most difficult time of our lives. The weeks since have been no less difficult in many ways but we are so glad to have had a wonderful ceremony to keep in our hearts and memory.
With love, Dan and Emma
Later I was moved by feedback from both them and the very special funeral director, Kaye Shannon, from Sibuns with whom I worked.
“It was special to work with you in this very tragic situation – your profoundly gentle, sensitive and professional manner was just perfect.”
